LIBERIA CHIEF REFEREE, LAMIN K. KAMARA RETIRES THIS WEEKEND
According to the official page of the Liberia Football Association, her chief referee Lamin K. Kamara will retire this weekend, February 6, 2022
Liberia’s Chief Referee Lamin K. Kamara will call time on his refereeing career this Sunday, 6 February 2022 at the Tusa Field Pitch in Gardnersville ironically where his career began nearly three decades ago as a student referee.
The former FIFA Badge Referee dubbed ‘’Libyan or CR7’’ will retire from active refereeing shortly after serving as Fourth Official in the ORANGE 1st Division League fixture this weekend involving MC Breweries and Bea Mountain.
Mr. Kamara has served as Liberia Chief Referee since December 5, 2012 after serving as deputy for the previous two years.
In a colorful career that started in August 1993 as a Student Referee, Mr. Kamara would be rewarded for his hard work to the rank of Junior Referee (Class B) in 1996.
Just two years after, he was promoted to the ranking of National Referee (Class A) before being enlisted as a FIFA Badge referee in 2005 where he served consistently for seven (7) years.
Since 2017, Mr. Kamara has been serving as a local Referee Instructor up until his ensuing retirement this weekend.
Mr. Kamara’s dedicated call to service earned him several trips on duty around Africa including: Tanzania, Nigeria, Benin, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Kenya, Guinea, Ghana amongst others.
Mr. Kamara earned several international training certificates which included: Nine (9) FIFA/CAF Member Association Courses and FIFA Futuro III Instructor Course in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Following his resignation on 6 February 2022, Mr. Kamara will stand as candidate for president in the Liberia Football Referee Association (LIFRA) Elections which is slated for Saturday, 26 February.
