The Liberia National Police has distanced itself from a fake security circular purportedly alerting citizens and residents of dangerous areas in Monrovia for walking.
At no point in time has the LNP deemed any area in Monrovia as a dangerous place for travel, as labeled in the fake security alert that is making rounds on social media.
The author of such fake travel alert seeks to instill fear in citizens and residents and also paint a gloomy security picture of Monrovia and its environs for travelers.
It is important to note that at no point in time was any statistics released to the public from the LNP which deemed certain parts of Monrovia and its environs as dangerous places for travel.
Hence, citizens and residents are urge to go about their normal businesses without fear of harassment or intimidation, especially during night hours.
The LNP has activated its rigorous foot and mobile patrols during night hours which is aimed at clamping down on marauding criminals who have sole intents of harassing and intimidating peaceful citizens.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police for Operations, Hon. Marvin Sarkor, along with his operational team, has increased effective patrols in various communities across the country.
The LNP assures citizens and residents of its resolve to ensure that their safeties are guaranteed and that Liberia will continue to remain one of the most peaceful and safe countries in Africa and the world over.
The LNP urges those in the constant habits of posting negativity about Liberia, especially regarding security, to desist or will be made to face punitive actions in line with the rule of law.
