From the Get Her Event hosted in New York.

Words from the officials of the just ended Get Her Event 2022 in New York

We are so inspired after our #GetHerThere event in New York City. ✨😍 Today was all about our commitment to girls’ education and empowerment around the world. We gathered girls from our global community along with the organizations and supporters who are helping us bring this work to life.

Marsai Martin was a fantastic host and she helped us spotlight some amazing young women from our Girls Opportunity Alliance. Nho, Miriam, and Addison shared the difference having the opportunity to pursue an education has made in their lives. Vilma and Maria Florinda spoke about creating new opportunities for indigenous girls in Guatemala. Betty and Clare shared their work as mentors for girls with disabilities. And Sara Bareilles inspired all of us with a musical performance. 🎤⭐

Then Amal Clooney, Melinda French Gates, and Michelle Obama took the stage to talk about how we’re collaborating with the Clooney Foundation for Justice and the Gates Foundation to support girls’ education and to help end child marriage. They were joined by Wanjiru Wahome from the Samburu GIRLS Foundation who works day in and day out to prevent child marriage and other harmful practices in rural Kenya.

As Mrs. Obama said, “We created the Get Her There campaign to inspire everyone to get involved in our work—because we know that our entire world benefits when girls are educated and empowered.” That’s what this is all about. So join us—visit getherthere.org to get involved.

Let’s #GetHerThere.
